The University of Western Ontario (UWO), corporately branded
as Western University at 2012 and Generally shortened to Western, is a public
research university in London, Ontario, Canada. The primary campus is situated
on 455 hectares (1,120 acres) of land, surrounded by residential neighbourhoods
and the Thames River bisecting the campus's eastern part. The college functions
twelve academic faculties and colleges. It's a member of this U15, a set of
research-intensive universities in Canada.
They became non-denominational in 1908. Starting in 1919,

History of Western University
Western leads in home and overseas thanks to building of
some state-of-the-art Richard Ivey School of Business at 2012. It had been at
Western at which Canada's first French Immersion program was set at Trois Pistoles,
Québec, in 1932 a schedule that continues today. And while our superiority
origins in history, Western has been eye on the next-generation discoveries.
It had been at Western where investigators headed by Ivan Smith developed the world's first'cobalt bomb' to take care of cancer in 1951. This discovery raised the cure rate for cervical cancer to 75 percent from 25 percent.

Western has continued to induce innovation. In 2012 that a
HIV vaccine developed by Dr. Chil-Yong Kang received consent from the United
States Food and Drug Administration to begin clinical trials. Western has
turned into a medical improvement leader since 1878.
In 1916, the present campus was bought from the Kingsmill
household, and in 1923 the college was renamed The University of Western
Ontario.
Considering that very first class graduated in 1883, the
college has turned into a vibrant center of learning. During 12 faculties and
three related college schools, Western now offers its 36,000-plus pupils over
400 specializations, majors and minors.

It is a large institution with an enrollment of 20,056
undergraduate students. Admissions is fairly competitive as the Western Ontario
acceptance rate is 31%.
